Each year, the Festival’s literary prizes highlight the success and quality of the work of a national or international author. These awards help promote literature and encourage discovery.

BLUE METROPOLIS INTERNATIONAL LITERARY GRAND PRIX

---

The Blue Metropolis International Literary Grand Prix is awarded each year to a world-renowned author in recognition of a lifetime of literary achievement.
The prize is accompanied by a $10,000 grant. It is awarded during the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival.

BLUE METROPOLIS FIRST PEOPLES PRIZE

---

From 2015 to 2024, the Blue Metropolis First People Prize has helped to raise the national and international profile of writers, from indigenous communities, mainly from Quebec and Canada.The Prize, which carried a grant of $5000 CAD, has been awarded in partnership with the Indigenous Voices Award organization (IVA) for several editions, and we would like to extend our warmest thanks to its directors.
The Prize was last awarded in 2024.

Blue Metropolis First Peoples Prize – International Edition

---

The Blue Metropolis First Peoples Prize, international edition, is awarded to a very significant native non Canadian author for the high quality of his work, which contributes to a better understanding of indigenous cultures, shows the beauty of the living world, while affirming the power of literature in the face of reality.
The Prize is accompanied by a grant of $5000 CAD. The award ceremony takes place in Montreal, during the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival.

BLUE METROPOLIS VIOLET LITERARY PRIZE

---

The Blue Metropolis Violet Prize is Canada’s first LGBTQ Literary Prize to be awarded to Canadian writer for their body of work. The $5,000 bursary will alternate each year between a francophone an anglophone writer. It is awarded as part of the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival.

PREMIO METROPOLIS AZUL

---

The Premio Metropolis Azul is given to an author from any country and region, for a work of any literary genre written in Spanish, English or French, which explores some aspect of Spanish language culture or history. The prize is donated by Ginny Stikeman with the aim of continuing the presence of the Spanish language at Blue Metropolis. 

El Premio Metropolis Azul se otorga cada año al autor de una obra literaria escrita en español, francés o inglés que trate sobre la cultura o la historia hispánica, independientemente del país de origen del autor. El premio está patrocinado por Ginny Stikeman con el fin de garantizar la presencia de la literatura española en el Festival Metropolis Bleu.

BLUE METROPOLIS/CONSEIL DES ARTS DE MONTRÉAL NEW CONTRIBUTION PRIZE

The award recognizes the work of a Montreal author of immigrant background (first and second generation) who is emerging (no more than three published books).
The prize is accompanied by a $5,000 grant. It is awarded as part of the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival.
