THIS WAY TO OUR BOX OFFICE OF THE HEART
The pandemic has brought big changes in the way we enjoy cultural products. With a simple click, we gain access to the great thinkers and artists of the day, and often enough, for free. The Blue Met has to deal with this new normal. Organizing events online with authors from all over the world, in the midst of a pandemic, is challenging enough. Charging admission to events on social media is all but impossible. So, to make the Festival as democratic and accessible as possible, all our events will be offered for a voluntary contribution.
Price of a ticket from the heart: $5 per event (or more, if so inclined).
A tax receipt will be delivered by email for all contributions of more than $20.
WHY SUPPORT THE BLUE METROPOLIS FOUNDATION?

TEACHING YOUNGSTERS TO SHARE
During the Holiday season, your donation will fund Writers as Gifts: the spirit of sharing. Eight children’s authors will be asked to write an original story, to be recorded as a video, on the subject of sharing and giving from the heart. The platform will contain links to charitable organizations and suggest ways to help vulnerable members of our community. There will also be a reading list of captivating novels and stories about sharing and giving.

BRINGING COMFORT
For Valentine’s Day, All-better words for healthcare workers will invite children 3-8 years of age to send a few words of comfort, or a heartfelt drawing, by mail, to people on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. With the help of our Guide for Parents, youngsters will write to healthcare workers, CHSLD staff, or seniors in lockdown, to wish them joy and courage. Never underestimate the power of children’s drawings and words.

IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING THROUGH READING
For several years now, we’ve been interested in the close link between reading and well-being, and in the potential for novels and poetry to lessen prejudice against people with mental health issues. Your gift will help fund 5 discussion sessions with authors whose work (for children, youths, or adults) fosters empathy for those who suffer, as well as an online writing workshop designed to help people feel better through self-expression. Visit our platform on Mental Heath!

COMBATING RACISM
The fight against racism and exclusion is an ongoing test for society. Our Hope to Remember events at the Salon du Livre de Montréal illustrates perfectly the role Blue Metropolis can play in favouring social inclusion. Your gift will allow the Festival to dedicate resources to annual programming which offers encounters and debates that are as instructive as they are stimulating for the mind.

READING TO CURE
This wonderful series, that brings authors’ tours to children’s hospitals and special needs schools, will celebrate its 5th anniversary in 2021. Supporting this project means that sick children and those with reduced mobility will continue to benefit from the magic of reading.

BLUE METROPOLIS FOR ALL
Our accessibility initiative needs your donation. In 2020-2021, we hope to present 10 literary activities with simultaneous sign language interpretation.
