YOUNG AT HEART
The 2027 edition of the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival will mark the 30th anniversary of the foundation that established it. The Festival will take place from April 15 to 18, 2027, on the theme “30 Years of Blue Metropolis: Young at Heart.” The Festival was born out of a passion for literature, and out of the conviction that literature is a powerful tool to bring together people from different cultures, languages, and backgrounds.
In 2027, Blue Metropolis will demonstrate the power of literature to build bridges, with the participation of the public, authors, and professionals from all corners of Quebec, Canada, and the world. The world may be changing, but the love of books, reading, stories, and words—whether they transport us to other worlds or make us think—remains as strong as ever. The 2027 program will include the all major series that made the festival famous, like the Blue Metropolis Literary Awards, the Azul series for Spanish- and Portuguese-language literature, the Ecology & Literature series, The Eleanor Wachtel Series at Blue Metropolis, Queer Voices, Indigenous Literatures and Voices, and many more. There will also be some new additions!
Join us for another annual weekend of on-stage interviews, panels, readings, debates, masterclasses, and live podcasts. The program is packed with one excellent event after another, sure to delight authors and members of the public alike. We can’t wait to see you there!

THE 2026 FESTIVAL REPLAY
The 28th edition of the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival took place on April 23 to 26, 2026, and revolved around the theme “Words for Understanding One Another.”
From all four corners of the globe, authors, writers, thinkers, philosophers, translators and journalists from different cultures, contexts and perspectives gathered in Montreal to reflect on this theme.

YOUTH SPACE
The mission of Blue Metropolis is to support children in developing a taste for reading, writing, math literacy, and to encourage them to discover and cultivate their imaginations. Our different activities therefore aim to support academic perserverance, stimulate creativity and develop children’s social skills.
In addition to the TD-Blue Metropolis Children’s Festival, which takes place all year long in libraries, bookstores and online, Blue Metropolis offers podcasts, videos, reading lists and quiz activities to keep families entertained and learning!
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Blue Metropolis’s educational and social programs are innovative literary activities that allow children and adults to meet professional francophone and anglophone writers and artists.
Thanks to these encounters and workshops, our programs provide participants with an opportunity to rediscover the pleasures of reading and writing, as well as take part in creating collective works of art.
