ELAINE KALMAN NAVES is a Montreal writer, journalist, and broadcaster. Her biography Journey to Vaja was the winner of the Elie Wiesel Prize for Holocaust Literature and has been made into a documentary film called Paradise Lost. Her book Putting Down Roots won the Mavis Gallant Prize for Non-Fiction, as did her memoir Shoshanna’s Story.
