Born in Nicaragua in 1942, Sergio Ramírez is a leading writer and intellectual. He has published more than two dozen novels, short story collections and non-fiction works. He also served as vice president of Nicaragua from 1985 to1990. His latest novel, El cielo llora por mí, was published in 2008.
